The Self-Love Files: Self-Love Tip #1

For so many of us the idea of self-love is wonderful. Why wouldn’t we show ourselves love, right? The sad reality is that most of us just don’t give ourselves the chance and that’s why I’m taking you along on my journey of self-love and appreciation.

The Self-Love Files will be a series of posts. Each post will contain one tip and I hope you take it on as a little challenge.

Self-love Tip #1: Write.
For me, this is a tried and tested form of self-love. I personally love to write so I suppose I am a little biased when it comes to this one. I know it works, though. Getting those thoughts down on a page in front of you can really help to make a little more of that precious room in your mind.

Journaling is such a healing activity. Keeping a physical journal or even just writing on a piece of scrap paper helps to make sense of the many thoughts swirling around our heads after hectic days. It’s also a really good way of taking note of the little things we appreciate about the days we’ve had. Sometimes, I like to look back through old journal entries and reflect on how far I’ve come, what beautiful memories I have to hold on to and wonder about where I could be in another six months or a year.

Poetry is a more creative form of expression through writing. I would love to be able to write beautiful poetry one day but that’s doesn’t have to be the goal. Just being a little more creative can spark positive feelings and help to look at things in another perspective.

Lists are a favourite of many. By writing a list the night before or even as a morning kick-start you are taking control of the day ahead of you. The satisfaction of checking off each task is so rewarding.

Short stories, blogging and love letters are just a few more ways you can write for positivity. You need not share your words with a soul and it doesn’t really matter what you write – it’s the action of expression. We are allowing ourselves to express ourself without limitation or fear of judgment and that is how we show ourselves love.

Yours, M
